Carry the method

Use the Ambition-Target method in any tool

The method is portable. Separate the outcome (Ambition) from the concrete change (Target), keep its current position visible (Lifecycle), and you can run it anywhere. Here's how to set it up in three popular tools.

Notion

Two linked databases — Ambitions and Targets — with a board view grouped by status.

  1. 1Create an "Ambitions" database with a Timeframe property (past / present / future).
  2. 2Create a "Targets" database with a Status property (Wishlist / Ready / Today / Complete).
  3. 3Add a relation from Targets to Ambitions, and a multi-select for your six-question labels.
  4. 4Open the Targets database as a board view, grouped by Status.

See it live in Make the Pasta

The method works on paper and in other tools — but Make the Pasta gives you a workspace built around it. See a real workspace in action.
